Alignment Before Abundance

Hey Sis!

So glad to have you back! Or, if you're new, I'm so excited you've decided to join us as we continue stepping into this season of overflow.

Last week, we focused on understanding who we are, Whose we are, and what that means in terms of what we have access to as daughters of God. I also emphasized how important our perception is in determining whether we experience the fullness of what God has promised.

This week, I want to focus on another essential component of walking in overflow: alignment.

I believe most of us have a general understanding of what alignment means, but I still want to define it from a biblical perspective so we're all on the same page—better yet, so we're all in alignment. (No pun intended.)

Alignment is about obedience. Simply put, it is living a life that is grounded in God and His Word. It is choosing to walk in accordance with His will and His standards rather than our own.

Alignment has nothing to do with perfection, performance, or striving through works. Instead, it is about daily surrender, a heart that longs to please God, and a willingness to be led by Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (Matthew 5:6)

Notice He didn't say those who are perfect. He said those who hunger and thirst after righteousness.

I'll say it again: this isn't about perfection; it's about being perfected. It's about yielding to Holy Spirit so He can cleanse us, refine us, and prune us to bear good fruit.

Here's the real tea, Sis:

Abundance is the fruit of alignment.

So often we're praying for God to bless us, expand us, and answer our prayers, but are we obeying what He's asked us to do?

God is never going to override our free will. He lovingly convicts, faithfully corrects, and is rich in mercy, but He will never force us to obey Him.

When we choose not to walk in alignment with God's instructions, we can unintentionally delay what He's trying to do in our lives.

Misalignment can look like holding on to old habits, attitudes, behaviors, or relationships that God has repeatedly told us to release. It can look like allowing fear, culture, or the opinions of others to guide our decisions instead of Holy Spirit. It can look like continuing in sin without quickly repenting and returning to God. Or it can look like pursuing our own plans while ignoring the assignments He's already placed before us.

If we need a biblical example of this, we can look at the Israelites and the Promised Land.

"For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess." — Deuteronomy 30:16 (NIV)

God promised them a land flowing with milk and honey—a place of abundance, provision, and overflow. The promise was never the issue. God's faithfulness was never in question.

The challenge was alignment.

Although God delivered them from Egypt, many of them struggled to let Egypt leave them. Their fear, unbelief, complaining, disobedience, and desire to do things their own way kept them wandering in the wilderness longer than necessary.

The wilderness was never meant to be their permanent destination. It was preparation.

God wasn't withholding the Promised Land because He was cruel or unfaithful. He was preparing a people who could steward what He had promised.

Sis, I believe the same is true for us. When we pursue God's heart above all else, we come into agreement with what He is shaping in us and what He has already prepared for us.

Sometimes we think God is delaying our prayers, when He's actually developing our character. Sometimes we think He's withholding abundance, when He's inviting us into deeper alignment.

The land flowing with milk and honey represents more than material blessings. It represents the overflow that comes from walking in obedience, trusting God's timing, and becoming the kind of woman who can steward what He has entrusted to her.

Because overflow isn't just about receiving more.

It's about becoming more.

Reflection:

Ask yourself today:

  • Is there an area where God has been calling me to greater obedience?

  • What have I been delaying that He has already made clear?

  • What do I need to surrender so I can fully walk into the overflow He has prepared for me?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your faithfulness and every promise You have spoken over my life. Thank You that You are not only preparing blessings for me, but You are also preparing me to steward them well.

Today, I surrender every area of my life that is out of alignment with Your will. Search my heart and reveal anything that is keeping me from walking fully in obedience to You. Give me the humility to repent quickly, the courage to let go of anything You have asked me to release, and the faith to follow wherever You lead. Help me to yield fully to Holy Spirit in every decision, every thought, and every step I take.

Lord, align my thoughts with Your truth, my desires with Your heart, and my steps with Your purpose. Help me to choose obedience even when it is uncomfortable and to trust Your timing even when I don't understand the process.

Thank You that You are more concerned with developing my character than simply giving me what I desire. Continue to refine me, prune me, and transform me into the woman You have called me to be. Prepare me to carry, steward, and sustain the overflow You have promised.

I choose to trust Your process, surrender my plans, and walk in alignment with Your will.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
