Sisssssss,
We have reached the Summer of Overflow series finale, and I am filled with so much joy and gratitude for what the Lord has done!
At this point, sis, the cup runneth over, which just so happens to be the title of today’s devotional.
What God has done in this season and what He will continue to do is not just enough. It is full, abundant, and overflowing. And when God fills our cup, we aren’t meant to keep it to ourselves. We are called to pour that same love, grace, wisdom, and goodness into others.
God is love, and His heart is BIG. And as His daughters, He desires for our hearts to reflect His. The heart of God is that when we are blessed, we become a blessing. Whether through kindness, love, encouragement, wisdom, or generosity, we are called to love our neighbors and allow what God has poured into us to flow through us into the lives of those around us.
Girl, your cup is full. Uncontainable and overflowing. Now you’re in the perfect position to pour. 🩵
But let me bring some necessary balance to this, because we are not called to pour at the detriment of ourselves. Overflow does not mean constantly giving until there is nothing left of us. There will still be moments when “no” needs to be followed by a period. Boundaries need to be established, and wisdom needs to be exercised so that we don’t find ourselves right back in places of depletion and burnout.
The Bible tells us to “love thy neighbour as thyself.” There is an important reminder in that command. We cannot neglect ourselves in the name of loving others. We must learn to receive God’s love for us, care for what He has entrusted to us, and allow Him to continually fill us so that what we pour out comes from a place of overflow rather than emptiness.
So yes, pour. Be a blessing. Love generously. Encourage. Give. Serve. Show up for others.
But remember, God is the Source and we are the vessels. And the goal isn’t to pour until your cup is empty. The goal is to remain connected to the Source so that your cup continues to overflow.
We see such a beautiful picture of this in 2 Kings 4 with the widow and her oil. She came to Elisha with what seemed like almost nothing, just a small jar of oil. Yet when she followed his instructions and began to pour, the oil kept flowing.
Sis, the miracle wasn’t that the widow had an endless supply within herself. The miracle was that she had access to a Source that never runs dry.
Let this reminder as you continue to walk in overflow: We don't have to pour from our own strength, our own capacity, or our own resources. God is our Source. When we stay connected to Him, He is the One who fills your cup, sustains you, and causes it to run over.
My heart for you, Sis:
May you be reminded daily of how much God loves you and of the ways He has made out of no way. Let every doubt, insecurity, and thought of lack or poverty be uprooted in Jesus’ name.
Every delay and every weapon formed by the enemy shall not prosper. I declare and decree that everything the Lord has ordained for you and those connected to you shall come to pass, according to His will and purpose for your life.
No longer will you walk feeling orphaned, forgotten, or like you are not enough. May God’s goodness and mercy continue to follow you. And even when things don’t look or feel their best, may you continue to stand firm in faith, perceiving and believing all that the Lord has done and is doing on your behalf.
May you walk boldly in faith, trusting that what God has spoken concerning you will come to pass. Walk with your head held high as a daughter of the Most High, knowing that you lack NOTHING. You are made new in Christ, forever loved, protected, and provided for by a Father who desires nothing more than for you to experience His overflow in every season.
