Hey Sister!
I’m so glad you’re here and I welcome you with L O V E!
This season is shifting quickly, and even though the air is getting cooler, I’m feeling oh-so warm because of our Father’s unwavering, unconditional love.
Last week, we were reminded that no matter how the seasons change, God’s love remains. That’s why we can never go wrong anchoring ourselves in Him. Because when — not if — people, places, and things around us change, we can stand confident in knowing that God never will.
I could shout right here — GLORAAAAYYYYYYYY! Because hallelujah to our God, whose love for us doesn’t waver based on our past or our present. Even with our falls, flaws, and all, He still cares. He still shows up. Hallelujah!
That brings us to the title of today’s devotional:
“Falls, Flaws, and All.”
This might be one of the most relatable devotionals yet, because we all have fallen somewhere along the way, and we all have flaws.
But here’s the thing: God cares more about your getting back up than your fall, and He sees beauty even in your blemishes.
Sis, the truth is: God doesn’t see you the way you see you. Too often, we focus on what we think is unworthy or insignificant instead of resting in what God says about us. He makes it clear how He views His daughters, and He wants us to see ourselves the same way.
He doesn’t want us speaking down to ourselves or thinking small about who we are. We’ve heard it before: “You are fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14), and God created you in His image, proclaiming that you are “very good” (Genesis 1:31).
For many, many years, I struggled to see myself the way God sees me. Insecurities and lies that the enemy began planting in my mind at a young age distorted how I viewed myself. On top of that, my battle with food addiction and obesity made it even harder to believe I was beautiful, worthy, or valuable in God’s eyes. Unfortunately, I allowed the world’s judgment to shape my view of myself, forgetting that God’s perspective is the one that truly matters.
Truthfully, it’s only recently that I’m beginning to see myself as the woman God has always seen in me. And I want to be honest with you, this kind of perspective shift doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. But as we spend more quality time with our Father and stay rooted in His Word, our minds and our perspective regarding ourselves begins to change for the better.
Seeing ourselves the way God sees us is so important for so many reasons. But the one I want to highlight today is this:
A poor self-image can hinder us from walking fully into who God has called us to be.
When we think negatively about ourselves and don’t truly believe all the good things God says about us in His Word, our entire perspective becomes distorted. So, when God calls us into business, ministry, leadership, or even a new season of growth, we can hesitate — not because God hasn’t equipped us, but because we don’t believe we’re worthy or capable.
But, I’m here to let you know: You are worthy. You are more than enough. You are valuable. You are called. You are chosen. You are loved.
You are exactly who God says you are.
And here’s the beautiful truth: God doesn’t just want you to know this, He wants you to believe it. He wants you to love YOU, Sis. Not in an egotistical or prideful way, but in a way that confidently affirms who you are in Christ. He wants you to see yourself as the masterpiece He lovingly created.
So, my encouragement to you is this: If you, like me, have struggled—or are currently struggling—with the way you see yourself, continue to wrap yourself in His love. Keep reading Scripture that affirms your identity in Him, and pray for the Lord to show you how to see yourself the way He sees you. Always remember, Sis, God delights in you, and so do I. Walk in that truth today and always.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, My God in Heaven,
I thank You for loving me exactly as I am, with all my falls, flaws, and mistakes. Help me release negative thoughts and uproot every lie the enemy has planted in my mind about myself. Help me not to allow other people’s opinions to shape how I see myself.
May I always be reminded that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and created in Your image. Teach me to see myself the way You see me, so I can step confidently into who You have called me to be.
Help me to wrap myself in Your love each day, to believe Your truth, and to walk boldly in the identity You have given me. I am not defined by my past; I am new in Christ. So, Lord let Your light shine through me so others can see Your goodness. Thank You, Lord, for your grace and showing me what unconditional love really is.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
