Hey Sister in Christ!
We are back with another one, focusing on glowing and growing in all things of God this summer! Things are definitely heating up in both the natural and spiritual realms. And when I say this has been the hottest summer I’ve experienced, I mean that quite literally and spiritually.
God is definitely bringing us into a new dimension. That’s why last week, we focused on God tilling our soil and rooting out the things that no longer serve His purpose in our lives. We talked about how hard and uncomfortable the pruning process can be. Let’s be real, change is not easy for any of us. It’s not always comfortable, convenient, or within our control. However, we have to release our grip and instead grab hold of His faithful promises.
Sis, God is not removing things to harm you. It’s only for your good.
Romans 8:28 (NIV) tells us:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Once we acknowledge and come to terms with pruning pains, while also recognizing the necessity of them? We put ourselves in a better posture to receive and rise.
So the title of this week’s devotional is:
“Rooted While Rising”
And this week, we’re focusing on distractions.
Yes I know, the irony.
This world is nonstop. Fast-paced. Always on the go. There’s so much noise and so many distractions coming at us from every direction. It feels like our attention is constantly being pulled and honestly, it is. I could sit here and make a long list of the common distractions we face, but again… that would be another distraction.
Let’s just be real: distractions aren’t going anywhere.
In fact, they only intensify. Especially when God is elevating you.
We’ve all heard it: New levels, new devils.
And it’s true. Just like you can sense the rising, so can the enemy.
And what does he come to do? Steal, kill, and destroy.
Now, I don’t want to give the enemy too much credit but distractions are one of his favorite weapons. Especially when they pull us away from our Kingdom purpose. Some distractions are subtle. Some are loud. Some are even wrapped in good things that aren’t God things.
This is why we must learn to overcome distractions. And I use the word overcome intentionally. Because distractions are like hurdles—barriers we have to jump over, just like track runners do in a race. Not because we’re racing against others, but because we’re pressing forward in the path God has for us.
So here’s the heart of the message:
Sis, we have to stay rooted while rising.
What does that look like?
Rooted in the Word — Staying grounded in scripture and showing up in devotion like this.
Rooted in His Presence — Shutting out the noise, sitting still before God, and worshiping Him not just for what He’s done, but for who He is.
Rooted in Prayer — Talking to Him, listening for His voice, and being led by His Spirit.
Rooted in Community — Surrounding yourself with those who encourage, sharpen, and remind you who you are in Christ.
Rooted in Purpose — Knowing your assignment, working the gift God placed in you, and moving in obedience even when distractions try to derail you.
As we become rooted in these things, elevation is bound to happen. Growth becomes inevitable. When our foundation is firm and our roots run deep in Him, we’re able to rise with strength, clarity, and direction. God can trust us with more because we’re anchored in Him, not swayed by the noise, not distracted by every passing thing. Your rising won’t be rushed, forced, or faked.
It’ll be FRUITFUL.
Let this devotional serve as a reminder:
You are a daughter of The King.
Root yourself in His truth, His promises, and His plan.
Stay focused. Stay rooted. And rise, Sis.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, My God in Heaven,
I want to use this time to focus solely on You. I invite You here and now. Remove every distraction, even now God, so I can truly commune with You and soak in Your presence. Being still with You has always brought me so much peace and joy, and I don’t want to go a single day without it.
Help me not just to remove distractions, but to refrain from entertaining anything that pulls me away from You. Whether it’s my phone, my thoughts, or the weight of my to-do list, remind me that nothing is more important than quality, intentional time with You.
Let me be anchored in You, and root me deeper.
Root me in Your Word, so I stay grounded in truth and consistent in devotion.
Root me in Your presence, where peace and stillness remind me of who You are.
Root me in prayer, where I talk with You, hear You, and follow Your lead.
Root me in community, with people who sharpen and strengthen me.
Root me in purpose, so I walk in obedience, even when distractions try to pull me off course.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Scriptures to meditate on this week:
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:7)
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
