Sis,

Before we get into today’s devotional, I want to remind you of my heart behind this series. It is centered on Kingdom abundance, spiritual fullness, and learning how to live from the truth that in Christ, we are not meant to function from lack but from the endless supply of God.

Whether you’ve been feeling spiritually depleted, emotionally stretched, or wondering if there is enough for you in this season, my prayer is that these devotionals renew your mind, shift your perspective, and remind you that lack is not your identity. Overflow is.

So far, we have covered perceiving the overflow, aligning for overflow, and letting go for overflow. Now, we will focus on receiving overflow by embracing the truth that in Christ, we are lacking nothing.

Lacking Nothing Because of Christ

I know you’ve probably heard it before, but I want to say it again.

What the world didn’t give, the world can’t take away.

So let this encourage you: Know that the overflow you are receiving from the Lord in this season is an overflow that remains and an overflow that sustains. There is no need to panic or fear that it won’t last long, that you're going to mess it up, or that it will somehow be taken from you.

When you are in Christ, you are forever lacking nothing.

I’ll say it again: what the world didn’t give, the world can’t take away.

This frequently used statement, yet timeless truth, immediately takes me to our Scripture focus for today’s devotional in John chapter 4.

The Well That Never Runs Dry

A woman comes to the well in the heat of the day, tired, overlooked, and carrying more than just physical thirst. She was carrying a sense of lack, dissatisfaction, shame, and the weight of feeling like an outcast. Because of that, she was shocked that a Jew, Jesus, would even interact with her.

But not only did she get to interact with Jesus, she had an encounter with Jesus. It was more than a conversation; it was a life-changing moment that revealed who He was and who she was created to become in Him, regardless of what others or the world around her believed.

"Jesus answered and said to her, 'Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.'" (John 4:13-14)

Here it is again, sis. Third time’s a charm.

What the world didn’t give, the world can’t take away.

When Jesus said the water He gives would become a fountain “springing up into everlasting life,” He was revealing that what comes from Him is not temporary or dependent on our circumstances. His life within us becomes a continual source of renewal, satisfaction, and overflow.

What He offers is completely different from what the world can offer. Everything the world provides eventually runs dry. It leaves us searching, striving, and thirsty for more. But what Jesus gives satisfies the deepest places of our souls and never runs out.

That is why, in Him, we are lacking nothing.

This is what we must remember at all times through both the good and the bad. Even in seasons that feel dark and shaky, we must still walk in and believe for overflow because our Source has never changed and never will. He remains faithful and consistent, and the blessings we have through Christ Jesus are eternal.

It is important that we fully understand what overflow means, or at least what it means according to biblical truth. We cannot fully embrace what God is pouring out if we are viewing overflow through the lens of the world.

Kingdom Overflow Versus the World's Overflow

Sis, what if we’ve been defining overflow the wrong way? 🤍

The world’s definition of overflow and abundance is completely different from Kingdom overflow.

The world teaches us to measure abundance by what we have: the money in our bank account, the number of followers we gain, the car we drive, the house we own, or the relationship we’re in.

Kingdom overflow is so much deeper.

It is about alignment. It is about fulfilling God's purpose. It is about walking in relationship with Him and living according to His will.

When we do, the natural result is an overflow of His love, joy, peace, grace, wisdom, provision, protection, and so much more.

It is not about striving for surface level, temporary things that can never satisfy us in the long run. Those things do absolutely nothing for the voids within our souls. That is something only Jesus can do, which is why He said, "Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst." (John 4:14 NKJV)

There is no amount of money, likes, followers, cars, or houses that can fill us the way Jesus can.

Forget seeing the glass as half empty or half full.

When we are in Christ, the glass springs up and overflows.

Final Encouragement

Sis, when we view overflow through the lens of the world, we will always find ourselves chasing more. But when we view overflow through the lens of God’s Kingdom, we discover that we already have access to everything we need through Him.

Never allow what you see someone else with, or what someone is portraying on social media, to cause you to second guess God's care and provision for you.

Your Father knows exactly what you need.

His timing is perfect.

His provision is intentional.

His supply never runs out.

As long as you remain connected to the Source, you never have to live from a place of fear, comparison, or scarcity because in Christ, you are lacking nothing.

Walk in that truth today, sis.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Today, I choose to fix my eyes on You as my Source. Thank You for the reminder that in Christ, I am lacking nothing.

Renew my mind so that I see overflow through the lens of Your Kingdom rather than the standards of this world. Guard my heart from measuring abundance by money, status, possessions, or the approval of others. Help me never to use worldly measures to dictate what overflow looks like in my life, but to find my identity, fulfillment, and security in You alone.

Remove every mindset of scarcity, comparison, and fear, and teach me to trust that what You provide is lasting, secure, and always enough. Fill me afresh with Your living water, and let my life overflow with Your love, joy, peace, wisdom, grace, and purpose so that I may reflect Your goodness to those around me.

I declare that because You are my Shepherd, I lack nothing. Your grace is sufficient, Your provision is enough, and my hope is secure both in this life and for eternity.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Scriptures to meditate on this week:

“Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:38 NIV)

“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1 NIV)

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” (Mark 8:36 to 37 NIV)
