Perceive the Overflow

DEVOTIONALS

Sis! The fact that the summer months are already upon us is beyond me. Time is rolling rather quickly, as always. But fortunately, our God doesn’t move in time, He moves in seasons. And this summer, I want you to perceive and receive overflow.

To set the tone for this summer devotional series, I want to make one thing clear: when I speak of overflow, I’m not just referring to the blessings God will pour out in this season. I’m also referring to the overflow of revelation you will receive about your identity in Him. As the temperature rises this summer, my prayer is that your faith, understanding, and intimacy with God will deepen as well.

This series is centered on kingdom abundance, spiritual fullness, fruitfulness, and learning how to live from the reality that in Christ, we were never meant to function from lack but from the endless supply of God. Endless joy, endless grace, endless peace, endless love, endless provision, endless protection, and the list goes on.

My ultimate prayer is that this series will renew your mind, reframe your perspective, and remind you that in the Kingdom of God, lack is not your identity. Overflow is.

Because the truth is, Sis: you are not called to beg, chase, persuade, or convince. You are a daughter of the Most High, and in Him you have access to exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). That’s right. You are the lender, not the borrower. The head, not the tail, and above, not beneath.

This means that you don’t have to be anxious about what’s to come. You don’t have to live with a fearful or scarcity mindset, because God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You don’t have to compare yourself to the next. You don’t have to strive to keep up with the Joneses or the Kardashians. Everything you need and every good thing God desires to accomplish in and through you has already been made available in Christ, for “God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

So the question is not whether God will bring overflow. The real question is whether you perceive and discern the overflow that has already been unfolding in your life because of Christ. Can you recognize what God is doing even now?

Isaiah 43:19 says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Notice that God didn’t ask if He was doing a new thing. He declared that He was. The question was whether His people could perceive it. Sometimes we become so focused on what God has done before, what we expected Him to do, or what we think we still lack that we miss what is springing up right in front of us.

Sis, in this season of overflow, I believe God is inviting you to open your eyes to the new thing He is already doing within you and around you. New levels of healing. New revelation. New confidence. New desires. New opportunities. New fruit. New ways of seeing yourself through His eyes.

Quite frankly, you are already standing in the midst of overflow. It’s springing up within you and all around you. You are not where you used to be by the grace of God. He has already made ways in your wilderness seasons and streams in your wastelands.

Let me remind you: when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and began to walk with Him, from that day forward, He has been doing a new thing in you (2 Corinthians 5:17). That wasn’t a minor, generic decision that you made. That was a major, forever life changing decision that you wholeheartedly made. God doesn’t take that lightly, and neither should you.

That decision brought you into a relationship with Almighty God, the Lord of lords and the King of kings. You are literally royalty, Sis, an heir of God’s Kingdom, not the world’s. You are not the same. You are not missing or lacking anything.

This is not to dismiss the areas where you are still expecting more elevation, acceleration, or provision. Rather, it is to emphasize just how important perception is.

Perception is truly reality. That’s why renewing our minds with the Word of God is so important (Romans 12:2). Once you really understand what you have access to through Jesus, you move differently. You no longer negotiate, shrink yourself, downplay your goals and aspirations, underestimate your value, or adjust your standards and expectations based on who’s around or who isn’t.

As we step into this season of overflow, we must first perceive it and believe that we are worthy of receiving what God has promised. That’s another question to ask yourself, Sis: Do you even believe you are deserving of the things you’ve been praying for?

Because doubt and belief can’t coexist, and belief is needed to receive (Mark 9:23; James 1:6-8).

So as we journey through this Summer of Overflow together, my prayer is that you will receive all that God wants to do for you, but that you would first perceive who you are in Him and what He is already doing in you.

Join me each week as we dive deeper into what it truly means to live from overflow. Together, we’ll uncover the fullness of who God says you are, embrace the abundance available to us in Christ, and learn how to steward the overflow He is producing in every area of our lives.

Sis, don’t just watch this season pass by. Lean in. Stay expectant. Open your eyes to the new thing God is doing, because it’s already springing up. The only question is: do you perceive it?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Lord, thank You for this season of overflow. Thank You that You are always doing a new thing in my life, even when I don’t always recognize it.

Today I ask for spiritual eyes to see and a heart that can perceive what You are doing. Remove every distraction, every mindset of lack, and every expectation that limits how I see You move. Teach me how to perceive the overflow You have already released over my life.

Align my thoughts with Your truth so I can recognize Your hand in every area of my life. Help me to trust that You are making a way where there seems to be no way and bringing streams into every dry place.

Lord, renew my mind so I no longer live from scarcity, fear, or comparison. Thank You that in Christ I already have access to everything I need. Teach me to live from that reality daily, perceiving what You are already doing in my life.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
